What is happening at the portal — development, new galleries, changes. A public log, updated continuously. Galleries are entered automatically with the date of their first upload.

  1. A look back at AI-assisted cataloguing: scanned album pages are automatically split into individual photos, each photo receives a description drawn from image analysis and album context, and every suggestion is checked by the archive before it goes into the portal. The milestones since April are now in this log.
  2. Licensing model restructured: the subscription is an archive licence for private and academic use; every publication requires its own publication licence. New licence terms (DE/EN), pricing page updated.
  3. Two new forms directly from the image view: "Request publication licence" and "Correct image information" — expert corrections now feed straight into the catalogue.
  4. Web fonts are now served locally, no connection to Google Fonts. Period and collection figures updated: around 270,000 photographs from the 19th century to 1945, over 224,000 digitised.
  5. Image search: First World War and colonial-era photographs are now discoverable by search engines; Second World War images are deliberately excluded.
  6. The DevLog is live: the "What's new" block on the home page and the /en/devlog/ page show what changes in the portal and which galleries have been added.
  7. Album splitter on the WWI 129 set (ten photo albums of one person, France): on 33 pages, 120 of 127 photos were detected without an image model; parts I to III are online in high resolution.

  13. The checkout now asks for explicit confirmation of the terms, withdrawal policy, privacy policy and the handling of historically sensitive material; a contract confirmation is sent by e-mail, in German and English.

  24. English translation of the entire First World War holdings completed (5,920 image descriptions); together with the Second World War, around 9,000 descriptions are now bilingual. Rules: no new facts, historical names and units unchanged, the German version stays where there is doubt.

  56. For the Second World War holdings, five image models were compared on the same album; the one chosen handles album context and German most reliably. By 21 July, eleven albums with around 1,220 images had been described with it.

  62. Album splitter: scanned album pages are automatically separated into individual photos; the suggestions are checked and corrected in the browser, and photos pasted in at an angle are straightened. First complete albums: WWI 002, 015 and 018 with 246 photos in total.
  63. First album fully described with AI assistance: WWI Army 090 (124 images) as a pilot. Each description combines image analysis with the album context from the inventory and was checked by the archive.
